Gopalganj: A brazen daylight robbery unfolded at the Surbhi Jewellery shop in Dharamparasa market, Gopalganj district on Wednesday at around 11:20 am, when seven masked men on motorcycles entered the store and launched the attack. Armed with pistols, they assaulted the owner and customers and stole jewellery worth approximately Rs 10 lakh along with a small amount of cash. They then fired 20 rounds into the air to intimidate onlookers before fleeing towards Siwan district.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that two of the robbers kept watch outside while one stood guard on the street. Within just five minutes, the entire theft was executed with military precision. Store owner Raju Soni and the staff were held at gunpoint, and the crowd dispersed in fear.
High-ranking police officers arrived swiftly after receiving the alert. The Saran range DIG, Gopalganj SP Avdhesh Dixit, and Siwan SP Manoj Tiwari, along with local SDPOs and officers from multiple stations, launched an immediate investigation. CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas is being examined. Police officials affirmed that the perpetrators will be identified and arrested soon.
