Patna: Patna is witnessing rising flood concerns as the Ganga river has swelled beyond its banks, spilling onto adjoining roads in parts of the city. Water levels have surged past several ghats, submerging key connecting routes under two to four feet of water.
Authorities have erected bamboo barricades at vulnerable points, including Mahavir Ghat and Bhadraghat, to prevent accidents and restrict access. Movement of vehicles and the general public has been banned in these areas until the water recedes.
“The banks along Ganga Path are low-lying, and water has reached those areas,” said Satyam Sahay, Sub-Divisional Officer of Patna City. “Barricading has been done for safety. Public movement will resume once the situation improves.”
In view of the rising water levels, the administration has also placed the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on alert. Alternate routes, including Ashok Rajpath and Marine Drive, have been advised for commuters.
