Patna: Flooding in Patna has forced residents from their homes as the Ganga river, swollen by recent rains, spilled over into streets and low-lying areas.
For several days, the water level had risen sharply, submerging Bind Toli and forcing evacuations. Although levels have now started to recede, floodwater still covers the road near Seedhi Ghat in Khajekala. The situation remains severe in Maner and Danapur, where agricultural land and villages have been inundated.

On Sunday at 1pm, the water level at Digha Ghat stood at 51.17cm above the danger mark of 50.45cm, while at Gandhi Ghat it was 49.84cm against a danger level of 48.60cm. Levels at Gandhi Ghat have stabilised, with Digha Ghat showing signs of decline.
Authorities have imposed a ban on boat operations after dusk, and barricades have been erected at Ganga ghats to restrict vehicle movement. In Khajekala, bamboo barricades block flooded roads to prevent pedestrian access.
In Danapur, crops over hundreds of acres have been destroyed, and dozens of villages across seven panchayats in the Diara region remain cut off from the block headquarters. In Maner’s Diara area, where Ratan Tola, Mahavir Tola, Dudhela, Haldi Chhapra and Islamganj are surrounded by floodwater, schools have been shut.
