Patna: The Bihar Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is set to recruit 12,543 candidates across multiple posts this year, marking a significant step towards the state government’s ambitious target of providing one crore employment opportunities.
In the coming months, the SSC plans to conduct three major competitive examinations. A written test for 201 field assistant positions was held in August, while recruitment for 12,199 inter-level joint competitive posts and 143 laboratory assistant positions is also underway.
The commission has already published exam dates for most districts, with results for Gaya and Siwan—where Office Peon (Special) exams were held—expected soon. Earlier this year, exams were conducted on May 11 for 238 Office Peon posts by the Department of Science, Technology and Technical Education, and on June 29 for 56 Welfare Administrator or Lower Division Clerk posts.
Preparations are in the final stages for appointments to 1,481 posts under the Fourth Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination and 3,727 posts under the Combined Competitive Examination for Office Peon (Special).
In recent years, the SSC has accelerated its recruitment process, moving from conducting one or two exams annually, with results taking months, to organising three to five exams per year with timely results.
SSC Chairman Alok Raj said, “Competitive examinations are being conducted within the stipulated time, and results are declared promptly. This will help fill departmental vacancies more efficiently. As departments continue submitting requisitions, we are committed to completing the recruitment process in line with the government’s resolution to provide employment to one crore youth.”
