New Delhi: Mahindra Automotive’s latest experiment in themed electric mobility has struck a chord with Indian buyers. The SUV maker announced that all 999 units of its BE 6 Batman Edition were snapped up in just 135 seconds after bookings opened on Saturday at 11am.
The feat highlights the growing demand for premium electric SUVs in India, particularly when paired with cultural icons. Initially announced as a 300-unit limited edition, Mahindra increased production to 999 on August 21, following overwhelming interest.
Priced at Rs 27.79 lakh, the BE 6 Batman Edition is based on the top-spec Pack Three variant and costs Rs 89,000 more than the standard version. The model features Batman-inspired design touches both outside and inside the cabin, designed as part of Mahindra’s tie-up with Warner Bros.
Pre-bookings opened at 5pm on August 21, with buyers asked to pay an advance of Rs 21,000. To further stoke excitement, Mahindra allowed customers to choose their badge number between 001 and 999. Unlike traditional limited editions, however, the numbers are non-exclusive, meaning several cars can bear the same badge number.
Deliveries are set to begin on September 20, aligning with International Batman Day. Mahindra has hinted that the success of the BE 6 Batman Edition may pave the way for more limited-edition models in collaboration with Warner Bros next year.
