Patna: The Bihar government has given approval for nine new infrastructure projects worth more than Rs 120 crore. The schemes, which include eight roads and one bridge, were announced by road construction minister Nitin Nabin on Friday. He said the projects are part of the government’s wider plan to improve connectivity and strengthen infrastructure across both towns and villages.
The projects cover East Champaran, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Lakhisarai, Bhagalpur, Purnia and Hajipur. They will include widening and strengthening of key roads, construction of drains, approach roads, and a high-level bridge. Officials said these projects will save travel time, reduce fuel use and make traffic movement smoother and safer. Nabin added that the road construction department is playing an important role in supporting Bihar’s rapid development.
Among the projects approved are a drainage system in Narkatiya Bazar in West Champaran at a cost of Rs 1.40 crore, hard soldering on the Raxaul-Adapur-Chhoradanon-Canal Path for Rs 7.25 crore, and widening and strengthening of 2.6 km of road on the Pakridyal-Sirha-Madhuban-Meenapur stretch at Rs 11.79 crore. In Darbhanga, a Rs 5.51 crore project will widen and strengthen the road from Alalpatti to Ganj via Bhairavpatti. In Madhubani, Rs 12.70 crore has been approved for a new PCC road and drains linking R.K. College Main Gate to Bhuvana Udyan through several busy chowks.
Other major schemes include a road project from Some River to Santanand School in Lakhisarai worth Rs 18.88 crore, and the construction of an approach road and RCC bridge in Bhagalpur costing Rs 23.36 crore. In Purnia, Rs 22.61 crore has been sanctioned for widening and strengthening Kazi Path from NH-107, while in Hajipur, Rs 15.61 crore will go towards the construction of the Goraul-Sondho-Mathanamal road.
Minister Nabin said that Bihar is “rapidly running on the new path of development” under the leadership of the prime minister and chief minister. He added that the new schemes are expected to make travel more comfortable for people and support the state’s goal of balanced development by improving infrastructure in both rural and urban areas.
