Rajgir: Rajgir Zoo Safari and Nature Safari in Bihar welcomed special guests on Wednesday. Bhutan’s home minister, Lyonpo Tsering, visited the popular destination along with a delegation of senior monks. Among them was Mahamahopadhyay Lopon San-ngag Yeshe Dorje Rinpoche, an eminent spiritual leader of the Central Monk Body, along with representatives from Punakha. The visit was seen as a moment that combined culture, spirituality and environmental awareness.
The guests were taken on a guided tour of the safari. They observed enclosures of lions, tigers, leopards, bears and several herbivorous animals. They also experienced the famous glass bridge, stopping to take photographs and admire the stunning views of the surrounding Rajgir hills. The natural beauty of the site, along with the efforts to protect wildlife, left a strong impression on the delegation.
Praising the initiative, the Bhutanese representatives said that Rajgir Zoo Safari and Nature Safari is not just a tourist attraction. They described it as a “meeting point of conservation and tourism”, where people can enjoy the beauty of nature while also learning about the importance of protecting wildlife and natural habitats. They stressed that such projects are valuable in today’s world, where development and environment need to go hand in hand.
The visit is also being seen as a boost for eco-tourism in Bihar. Rajgir has become a major centre of attraction for visitors from across India and beyond. By bringing together conservation, tourism and cultural ties, the zoo safari is positioning itself as more than just an outing spot — it is emerging as a symbol of how protecting nature can also bring people closer across borders.
