Patna: With Navratri approaching, the Nitish Kumar government has unveiled a major relief measure for Bihar’s construction workers. The chief minister confirmed on his official X handle that Rs 5,000 will be transferred directly to each worker to help them buy clothes under the state’s Annual Clothing Assistance Scheme.
In total, Rs 802.46 crore has been disbursed to 16,04,929 workers across the state. CM Nitish said the move was part of the government’s effort to improve the lives of those at “the last rung of society” and recognise their contribution to Bihar’s development.

The announcement coincided with Vishwakarma Puja and the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a detail CM Nitish highlighted in his post. “The respected Prime Minister is working continuously without stopping and without getting tired with full devotion for the upliftment of the country and the citizens,” he wrote, extending birthday greetings.
Alongside the transfer, the government launched the web portal of the Chief Minister’s Pratigya Yojana, aimed at improving delivery of welfare measures. CM Nitish said the state would continue to prioritise schemes that “bring the working class into the mainstream of progress.”
