Muzaffarpur: A Marine Drive-style promenade is taking shape in Muzaffarpur, where the development of a lakefront at Sikandarpur Man is nearing completion under the Smart City scheme.
Work on the project, which began in September 2022, is being carried out in three phases. According to officials, the first two phases are complete, while the third is underway and scheduled to finish by October 31. So far, around 90% of the work has been completed, at a cost of roughly Rs 213.25 crore.
The redevelopment includes a cycle track, walkways, landscaped cultural garden, green buffer zone and lighting, along with amenities such as a selfie point, boating facilities, a community hall and an open-air auditorium. Food and beverage stalls are also expected to be available once the site opens to the public.
Municipal commissioner Vikram Virkar said the project would offer a new recreational space for residents, describing it as a “new picnic spot” for Muzaffarpur. Officials believe the development will enhance the city’s profile as part of the national Smart City programme.
