Patna: The nomination process for the 2025 Bihar Assembly General Elections is gaining momentum, with a total of 41 candidates filing their nomination papers so far. Today marks the fifth day since nominations opened on October 10.
According to the Election Commission of India, the last date for filing nominations is October 17, scrutiny will take place on October 18, and candidates will have until October 20 to withdraw their nominations.
14 Assembly Seats in Patna District
In Patna district, nominations can be filed for all 14 assembly constituencies between 11 am and 3 pm. Apart from the District Collectorate, nomination centers have been set up at the Patna City, Danapur, Masaurhi, and Paliganj subdivision offices, as well as at the BDO office in Bikram.
To ensure smooth and secure conduct of the elections, over 8.5 lakh personnel have been deployed across the state, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bihar said.
Strict Enforcement of Model Code of Conduct
Following the announcement of the elections, the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has been implemented statewide. Since then, the administration has intensified monitoring and surveillance to curb illegal activities and prevent any attempts to influence voters through inducements.
According to the CEO’s office, a large quantity of cash, liquor, narcotics, precious metals, and other items have been seized across Bihar.

- Cash: ₹78 lakh
- Liquor: ₹12.01 crore
- Drugs/Narcotics: ₹4.42 lakh
- Precious Metals: ₹27.88 lakh
- Freebies/Other Items: ₹51.4 lakh
- Total: Approximately ₹25.14 crore
In another updated report, seizures worth ₹24.62 crore have been recorded, which include:
- Cash: ₹77 lakh
- Liquor: ₹13.06 crore
- Drugs/Narcotics: ₹6.86 lakh
- Precious Metals: ₹10,000
- Freebies/Other Items: ₹39 lakh
Over 550 Arrested Under Preventive Acts
To maintain law and order, statewide action has been initiated against those involved in illegal liquor trade and other anti-social activities. So far, 556 individuals have been arrested under preventive laws including the National Security Act (NSA) and Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act, while over 2.6 lakh bonds have been executed to maintain peace.
Coordination Among Multiple Agencies
To ensure free and fair elections, the district administration, police, excise, income tax, narcotics bureau, and customs departments, along with flying squad teams, are conducting coordinated drives across the state.
The Chief Electoral Officer has instructed all District Magistrates to ensure swift action on complaints and provide a secure environment where voters can cast their votes without fear or undue influence.
