Patna: The Janata Dal United (JDU) has unveiled its first batch of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, finalising 57 names for the contest. The list was announced at a press conference in Patna, with JD(U) National President Nitish Kumar personally overseeing the selection process.
Party sources said the candidates were chosen after several rounds of discussions and extensive internal deliberations. In line with past practice, the JD(U) emphasised maintaining strong coordination with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and other allies within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Under the NDA seat-sharing agreement, the JD(U) is slated to contest 101 seats in total, with the remaining constituencies to be contested by the BJP and its allied partners.
The announcement marks the beginning of the formal campaign process for the state elections, with parties gearing up for what is expected to be a highly competitive battle across Bihar.
