Patna: Bhojpuri superstar Pawan Singh has clarified that he does not wish to contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, according to BJP MP Manoj Tiwari. Speaking to ANI, Tiwari said that Singh’s political ambition is focused on the Lok Sabha, not the state assembly. “Pawan Singh wants to become an MP, and in the future, we will field him from the right constituency,” Tiwari said. His statement confirms that Singh will not be among the candidates in the BJP’s current list of 101 nominees for the Bihar Assembly elections, ending speculation about his participation.

Pawan Singh’s political journey has been eventful over the past year. Tiwari revealed that he had secured a BJP ticket for Singh from the Asansol seat during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. However, Singh declined the ticket and decided to contest independently from Karakat in Bihar, a move that led to his expulsion from the party. Singh’s independent run in Karakat ended in defeat, but it was a widely discussed political development, highlighting his influence as a Bhojpuri star and his popularity among voters.

Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Singh has returned to the BJP after reconciliation with RLM chief Upendra Kushwaha. The BJP’s efforts to bring him back into the party fold were successful last month, following which there was speculation that Singh might contest on a BJP ticket in the state elections. However, his name was not included in the official candidate list. Party leaders have indicated that Singh’s political role will be significant in the coming years, even if he is not contesting immediately.

While Singh will not stand for the assembly polls, his presence in Bihar’s political and cultural landscape remains important for the BJP. With his strong fan following and influence in Bhojpuri-speaking regions, Singh is expected to strengthen the party’s outreach among voters. Political insiders suggest that the BJP may consider him for a Lok Sabha seat in the near future, ensuring that he continues to play a visible role in the party’s campaigns and strategies. For now, Singh will focus on preparing for parliamentary opportunities while supporting the BJP in the assembly elections.

  • The Bihar government has announced a major push for women’s empowerment by planning bank loans of up to ₹10 lakh each for 50,000 women’s self-help groups in 2026–27. The initiative under the “Jeevika” programme aims to strengthen rural livelihoods and expand women-led enterprises, supported by strong repayment records and rising financial inclusion across the state.

Officials said around Rs 16,000 crore in loans is expected to be disbursed this year, with millions of women already engaged in small businesses like farming, retail, animal husbandry, and services. With a reported repayment rate of about 99%, the programme is set for further expansion, boosting economic opportunities for rural women in Bihar.

  • The Bihar government led by Samrat Choudhary won the trust vote in the Assembly through a voice vote, formally securing its majority after a heated political debate. Speaker Prem Kumar declared the motion passed and congratulated the newly formed government, as the ruling NDA defended its governance record and development agenda in the state.

The session saw sharp exchanges between the ruling alliance and Tejashwi Yadav, who questioned the government’s stability and frequent leadership changes in Bihar. Choudhary rejected allegations of dynastic control, stressing governance priorities like tackling corruption, crime, and communalism, while the opposition continued to raise concerns over political instability.

  • Political tensions in Bihar are heating up as Rohini Acharya joins Tejashwi Yadav in attacking the state government over energy supply claims. She questioned the logic behind discussing coal availability when authorities insist there’s no shortage of LPG, calling it a “reverse gear” approach to development and mocking the idea of a “double-engine government.”

Acharya argued that bringing coal back into household conversations signals a step backward, not progress, and accused the government of hiding present failures behind past narratives. With Tejashwi already raising concerns over governance, inflation, and public services, the debate over development in Bihar is only getting sharper.

  • Bihar is set for a major infrastructure boost as the government upgrades the 45 km Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama Bata Chowk road via Barh, widening it from 7.5 metres to 11 metres at an estimated cost of ₹250 crore. The project, which follows the old NH-31 alignment through key towns like Pandarak, Mor, and Shivnar, aims to modernize the route and handle increasing traffic demands, with completion expected by April next year.

Originally announced by Nitish Kumar during his Pragati Yatra in 2025, the upgraded road will ease congestion and significantly improve connectivity across the Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama–Begusarai–Khagaria corridor. It is expected to benefit daily commuters and boost freight movement, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. 🚧
