‘Shah Threatens Me, But Lalu’s Son Is Not Afraid’: Tejashwi Rallies For VIP Candidate In Darbhanga As Madhepura Event Cancelled

Darbhanga: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav held two public meetings in Darbhanga on Wednesday, making bold remarks against the BJP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while rallying support for Santosh Sahni, the VIP candidate from Gaurabauram. His scheduled meeting in Madhepura was cancelled due to bad weather.

Addressing a massive crowd, Tejashwi said, “Shah threatens us that he will teach us a lesson so harsh that we will think twice before contesting again. But Bihar is not afraid of outsiders. When Lalu Prasad Yadav did not spare Advani, how can his son Tejashwi be afraid?”

He declared the Bihar elections a battle for the state’s future: “This is not just an election to make someone MLA. This is a fight to rebuild Bihar. If we win Bihar, we’ll also win Uttar Pradesh and Bengal. Modi’s path will be blocked right here.”

Tejashwi appealed to voters to stand united behind the Grand Alliance, saying Congress, VIP, and CPI(ML) were making sacrifices for a common goal — to remove the BJP from power. “We will take care of every worker and ally. Only a Grand Alliance government can bring jobs to every home,” he said.

Confusion ends over Gaurabauram seat

Santosh Sahni, contesting on the VIP symbol, has now been officially declared the Grand Alliance’s candidate from Gaurabauram. RJD’s Afzal Ali Khan, who also filed his nomination earlier, was reportedly asked to withdraw but refused. Despite the tension, Tejashwi shared the stage only with Sahni, signalling a clear endorsement.

Jobs, corruption, and Bihar’s struggle

Tejashwi criticised the BJP–JD(U) government for rising unemployment and corruption, alleging that “not a single factory has opened” in years. “All three sugar mills in Darbhanga and Madhubani are shut. Modiji wants factories in Gujarat, not Bihar — this is a double standard,” he added.

Accusing the government of neglecting welfare schemes, he said: “People are promised 5 kg of ration but get only 3 kg. Bribes are demanded for every government job. There’s a liquor ban, but alcohol is home-delivered — this is Nitish Kumar’s Bihar.”

Call for change

In his Bahadurpur rally, Tejashwi urged the youth to raise their hands for change. “If there is no government job in your family, our government will ensure one. Press the button on the lantern symbol to build a new Bihar.”

He concluded, “The people of Darbhanga are ready for change. Let’s defeat the BJP and bring back a government that works for the poor and the unemployed.”
