Patna: The city’s main arteries will come to a virtual standstill today as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s grand roadshow moves through the heart of Patna. Authorities have imposed sweeping traffic restrictions across central Patna from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., with several key routes—including Dinkar Golambar, Nala Road, Bari Path, Thakurbari Road, Bakarganj, and Gandhi Maidan—closed to the public.
The roadshow, scheduled to begin at 5 p.m., will span roughly 1.6 kilometres from Dinkar Golambar to Udyog Bhawan near Gandhi Maidan. Following the event, the Prime Minister is set to visit the historic Gurudwara Shri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib, for which additional security and logistical arrangements have been made.
Only emergency and essential vehicles—such as ambulances, fire brigades, patient transport, hearses, judicial, election, and those with special passes—will be permitted during the restrictions. The district administration has advised residents to complete any necessary travel in the area by noon.
Traffic diversions during Saturday’s rehearsal had already caused long jams in Nehru Path, Link Road, and Bakarganj. Police have warned that similar congestion is expected on Sunday.
More than 5,000 police personnel, including SPG and paramilitary forces, have been deployed for security. CCTV cameras and rooftop surveillance units have been installed along the entire route, with a control room monitoring real-time footage.
Parking for spectators has been arranged at Gandhi Maidan, Patna Science College, Patna College, Moinul Haq Stadium, and the Congress Ground, with pedestrian access routes designated to minimise public inconvenience.
