Barh: Anant Kumar Singh, the former MLA from Mokama, has made clear his stance of political independence, stating that he does not align with either Lalu Prasad Yadav or Nitish Kumar. Referring to JDU leader Lalan Singh, Singh remarked that Singh does not require his support, given his substantial voter base. Denying any expulsion from the political arena, Singh asserted that he had obtained parole from the court and had not been ousted.
Having served as MLA five times, Singh emphasized his commitment to public welfare, expressing his intention to continue meeting and serving those who had supported him. Responding to the moniker “Bahubali” (strongman), Singh attributed the label to the media.
Singh’s recent statements follow his release from Beur jail in Patna, where he was held in connection with possessing an AK-47. He was granted 15 days parole for land distribution issues. Singh’s prediction that Lalan Singh would win by a significant margin has drawn attention, especially in the lead-up to the Munger Lok Sabha elections on May 13.
Upon his release, security was tightened outside the jail premises. Singh’s wife, Neelam Singh, currently holds the position of MLA from Mokama and is aligned with the NDA.
Meanwhile, Singh’s emergence from jail has sparked heightened activity in the region, particularly with regards to the upcoming elections. Ashok Mahato, husband of RJD candidate Anita Mahato, issued a sharp response to Singh’s statements, asserting their resilience and dedication to public service. Mahato accused Singh of voter intimidation through his parole release, claiming that Singh’s associates were threatening voters. Despite the alleged threats, Mahato remained steadfast in his commitment to serving the public and ensuring a fair electoral process.
