Saharsa, 27th October 2023: Former Member of Parliament, Anand Mohan, is set to showcase his political strength in Saharsa today, with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar joining the event. The occasion will see Nitish Kumar unveiling statues of Anand Mohan’s grandfather, freedom fighter Ram Bahadur Singh, and uncle Padmanand Singh Brahmachari upon reaching Panchgachia.

Nitish Kumar is scheduled to land at the sports ground around 3 pm, where the inauguration ceremony will take place. Following the unveiling of the statues, the Chief Minister will address a public meeting at the Social Club Panchgachia grounds. Subsequently, Nitish Kumar will visit Anand Mohan’s residence for the second time, marking a significant political convergence after Anand Mohan’s release about six months ago.

Former MP Anand Mohan expressed the historical significance of the statues, stating that Ram Bahadur Singh, known as the “Gandhi of Kosi,” was his grandfather. He also highlighted the revolutionary legacy of Padmanand Singh Brahmachari, whose name struck fear into the British during the 1942 movement. Anand Mohan noted that the foundation stone for the statue was laid in 1998 during his tenure as an MP, with dignitaries like former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and Bihar’s then Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav in attendance.

Anand Mohan emphasized the importance of paying tribute to freedom fighters, underscoring their continuous struggle for independence from 1919 to 1946, enduring imprisonment eight times.

Addressing speculation about his political affiliation, Anand Mohan clarified that he has not yet decided to join the Janata Dal United (JDU). Recent rumors suggested a possible move to JDU, but Anand Mohan’s son, Anshuman Anand, dismissed the claims, stating that decisions about political alignment will be made following a rally in January.

Anshuman Anand affirmed that his brother (Chetan Anand), an RJD MLA, and his mother will remain in the RJD. The future actions of Anand Mohan will be determined based on the developments following the upcoming rally.
