Patna: During the second day of his Bihar tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today made a significant stop at Takht Sri Patna Sahib also known as Harmandir Sahib Gurdwara in Patna City. Amidst tight security, the Prime Minister paid his respects at the revered Sikh shrine, bowing his head in prayer.
Dressed in a turban, PM Modi immersed himself in the spiritual ambiance of the gurdwara, spending around 20 minutes on the premises.Â
Accompanied by senior BJP leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Ashwini Choubey, the Prime Minister’s visit marked a historic moment as it was the first time a sitting Prime Minister had visited the Patna Sahib Gurudwara.
Upon his arrival, PM Modi’s convoy encountered a hurdle as his car got stuck due to the narrow width of the road. However, with prompt action, the barricade was cleared, allowing the Prime Minister’s procession to proceed towards its destination.
Inside the gurdwara, PM Modi not only participated in the religious rituals but also engaged in a humble act of service by cooking food in the langar area. Rolling out rotis and serving food with his own hands, the Prime Minister exemplified the spirit of seva (selfless service) that lies at the heart of Sikhism.

Jathedar Baldev Singh expressed his appreciation for the Prime Minister’s visit, highlighting its significance for the Sikh community. “This is the first time a Prime Minister has come to the Gurudwara located in Patna City,” he remarked.
The atmosphere in Patna City was charged with enthusiasm as the news of PM Modi’s visit spread. Police forces were deployed at strategic locations to ensure the smooth conduct of the Prime Minister’s program, reflecting the high level of security arrangements in place.
Before his visit to Takht Sri Harmandir Sahib Gurdwara, PM Modi also made a stop at Eco Park in Patna, where stringent security measures were implemented.
