Amit Shah in Bettiah Rally: PM Modi Crosses 270 Seats, Rahul Gandhi Struggles to Reach 40
Bettiah: Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivered a fiery speech at Ramna Maidan in Bettiah on Sunday, targeting the opposition INDIA bloc. In his 25-minute address, Shah asserted that the NDA has already surpassed the 270-seat mark in the first four phases of voting, while the INDIA bloc struggles to secure even 40 seats.
Shah took a direct swipe at RJD leader Lalu Prasad, accusing him of advocating for 100% reservation for Muslims. “Lalu ji, whose reservation will you cut?” Shah said. “Will it be the Dalits, tribals, or backward communities?”
During his speech, Shah urged voters in the Bettiah Lok Sabha constituency to elect BJP candidate Sanjay Jaiswal for a fourth term. A minor altercation between two youths at the rally was quickly resolved by the police, ensuring the event continued without further disruption.
Shah highlighted the achievements of the PM Modi government, contrasting them with the situation in Pakistan. “Earlier, there was stone pelting in Kashmir; today, it’s happening in PoK. Slogans of independence were once raised here; now they are in PoK. Strikes used to happen here; now they are in Pakistan,” he said. Shah also pointed out that while Pakistan struggles with food shortages and soaring flour prices, the Modi government is providing free rations to the poor in India.
The rally comes ahead of the sixth phase of voting in West Champaran, scheduled for May 25. Shah’s address aimed to bolster support for the BJP as the election campaign enters its final stages.
