Patna: The campaign for the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Bihar concluded on Thursday evening, setting the stage for voting on June 1 in eight parliamentary constituencies: Patna Sahib, Pataliputra, Nalanda, Ara, Sasaram, Karakat, Buxar, and Jehanabad. Polls will be open from 7 am to 6 pm, and all preparations for the election have been completed.
A total of 1,62,04,594 voters are registered across these constituencies, including 77,02,559 women, 85,01,620 men, and 415 third-gender individuals. A total of 134 candidates are contesting in this phase, with 12 women among them. There are 23 candidates from national and state-level recognized parties, 43 independents, and 68 from registered parties.
To accommodate the voters, 16,634 polling stations have been established, with 12,749 in rural areas and 3,850 in urban areas. Additionally, 146 polling stations will be staffed exclusively by women workers, and 117 model polling stations along with 56 PWD (Persons with Disabilities) managed stations have been set up.
The final phase of voting is critical as it encompasses key constituencies, with the maximum number of voters in Patna Sahib and the least in Jehanabad. The election results will be closely watched as they have significant implications for both local and national politics.
