Patna: A free eye check-up camp for retired power sector employees was held on Wednesday at Vidyut Bhawan in Patna, with doctors warning of a rise in vision problems linked to ageing and prolonged screen use.
The camp, organised by ASG Eye Hospital, was conducted in the multipurpose hall of Vidyut Bhawan and was open to retired employees of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited and its subsidiary firms, as well as serving power employees. Hundreds attended for routine eye examinations.
Ophthalmologists Dr Kanchan and Dr Shobha led the medical team. Speaking at the event, Dr Kanchan said near-vision difficulties were the most common issue identified during the screenings, attributing the trend to increasing screen exposure, particularly among older adults.
She also advised participants to maintain basic eye hygiene, including avoiding contact with the eyes using unclean hands, to reduce the risk of infections.
Senior officials and staff members, including Anand Prakash, Anand Mishra, Ramswaroop Kumar and Nitesh Jha, were present during the camp. Organisers said the initiative aimed to promote awareness of eye care and encourage early detection of age-related vision problems.
