Patna: Indian Railways has cancelled the operation of three pairs of passenger trains for extended periods from late December to early February, citing safety concerns amid persistent winter fog.
According to a statement issued by the railways’ Hajipur division, services on the Siwan–Samastipur passenger route (train numbers 55122 and 55121) will remain suspended from December 26 until February 1, 2026.
Two passenger trains operating between Ghazipur City and Dildarnagar (65103 and 65104) have been cancelled from December 25 to January 31, 2026. Similarly, services on the Gorakhpur Cantt–Narkatiaganj route will be affected, with train number 55098 cancelled from December 25 to January 31, 2026, and its return service, 55097, suspended from December 26 to February 1, 2026.
Railway officials said the cancellations were necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and train operations during periods of low visibility caused by dense fog, a recurring challenge across northern India in winter months.
Passengers have been advised to check the status of their trains before travel and make alternative arrangements where necessary.
