Patna: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister, Samrat Choudhary, has called for provisions for nine airports and support for seven proposed medical colleges in the upcoming union budget for the fiscal year 2025-26. These demands were put forward during a pre-budget meeting chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Saturday.
“In order to expand air connectivity in Bihar, I would like to request Madam to make provision in the current budget for nine airports at Dehri, Saharsa, Forbesganj, Munger, Begusarai, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Raxaul, and Gopalganj. I would like to mention here that the state is ready to provide land for these airports,” said Choudhary.
Addressing the need for central assistance for medical colleges in Bihar, Choudhary added, “To augment the capacity of medical colleges and hospitals, the state government has sanctioned the upgradation of existing as well as the establishment of new medical colleges. It is requested from the Central government to consider the establishment of seven government medical colleges at Munger, Motihari, Gopalganj, Supaul, Begusarai, Mahua (Vaishali), and Ara (Bhojpur) under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme.”
