Patna: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has submitted its report on the NEET-UG paper leak case. According to sources, 100 candidates from Bihar and Jharkhand had received the NEET paper before reaching the examination centers on May 5. The examination mafia had the students memorize questions and answers at Learn and Play School in Khemnichak, Patna, a hotel near the bypass, and in some cities of Jharkhand. The mafia then sent the candidates to the examination centers.
The paper allocated for Oasis School in Hazaribagh had reached the mafia. The trunk from which booklet no. 6136488 was stolen will now undergo FSL investigation. The Ministry of Education has handed over the case to the CBI based on the report from Bihar Police in the NEET UG case, received late Saturday night. The ministry states that the police have proven the paper leak, but it was limited to Patna, Nalanda, and Vaishali.
For the 1563 students who received grace marks in NEET, a re-examination was conducted on Sunday at seven centers in five states. Only 813 students appeared, while 750 did not. In Jhajjar, Haryana, which produced six toppers in the May 5 examination, 42% of the students did not appear for the re-NEET.
At that time, 790 students had qualified due to grace marks.
Re-NEET was conducted following the Supreme Court’s instructions. Among the 1563 students, 790 had qualified due to grace marks in the May 5 examination. However, NTA has not yet disclosed how many of those who did not appear for re-NEET had qualified without grace marks previously.
The CBI has registered the first case in the NEET-UG leak under sections 120B and 420.
NTA has issued notices to 17 students from Bihar and 30 students from Gujarat, expelling them from the exam for tampering. Earlier, action was taken against 63 students.
