Patna: As Patna braces for 2026, the Bihar capital is preparing for one of its most exuberant New Year’s Eves in recent years, with hotels, public parks and entertainment venues announcing elaborate programmes for December 31.
From Sufi concerts and carnival nights to DJ dance floors and family-friendly attractions, event organisers say demand has surged as residents look to make the last night of 2025 memorable.
At the Hotel Gargi Grand, a “Carnival Festival” aims to blend music, dance and gourmet dining. The event will feature a performance by actor Shubhi Sharma, alongside a mix of live singing, saxophone, western fusion dance, nail art stations and tattoo artists. A buffet boasting more than 160 dishes has been promised, with prices set at Rs. 5,999 for couples, Rs. 3,499 for solo entry and Rs. 1,999 for children aged one to 12.
Hotel Patliputra Exotica is hosting an “Around the World Night”, combining themed décor with performances by Indian Idol alumnus Roshan Kumar. Packages begin at Rs. 999 for children and Rs. 4,999 for couples, while a premium Rs. 9,999 tier includes an overnight stay in the property’s suites.
For those seeking a quieter alternative, Hotel Maurya plans a Sufi-themed evening headlined by internationally acclaimed vocalist Ustad Munawwar Masoom. The programme includes Punjabi folk, Bollywood music and gourmet dining, with couples’ entry priced at Rs. 10,000 and overnight accommodation packages going up to Rs. 15,000.
Hotels catering to families are also reporting strong interest. AVR Hotel has scheduled a live performance by singer Kanak Singh Rajput, known for her work across Hindi, Bhojpuri and devotional music. Entry tiers range from Rs. 869 for children to Rs. 3,699 for family packages, all inclusive of unlimited food and live entertainment.
Public venues are preparing for heavy footfall on January 1. Entry prices at Patna Zoo will triple to Rs. 150 for adults and Rs. 60 for children, while adventure activities and boat operations on the Ganga river will be suspended as part of safety measures enacted by district authorities. Several parks, which normally close on Thursdays, will remain open; ticket prices have been increased to Rs. 50 for adults and Rs. 20 for children.
With long queues expected across the city, local authorities have urged caution, citing high visitor numbers and a rise in bookings. For many, however, the excitement outweighs the inconvenience. After years of muted celebrations, Patna appears determined to usher in 2026 in full voice — with fireworks, music and a citywide sense of anticipation.
