Patna Police Nab Prime Suspect in ₹3 Crore Gold Robbery
Patna: The Patna police have arrested notorious criminal Raju Patel in connection with the Rs 3 crore gold robbery at Dak Bungalow crossing. Patel was apprehended in the Gaighat area, where police recovered 800 grams of gold, a pistol, and a vehicle from him. The arrest occurred 110 days after the incident.
City SP Chandra Prakash stated that Patel faces multiple serious charges. On 7th March, Patel, along with other associates, robbed a Delhi-based gold trader at gunpoint, injuring the trader’s son. Following the incident, police intensified their crackdown, preventing the criminals from selling the stolen gold. Instead, they divided it amongst themselves, allowing them to roam freely in Patna for three months.
The gang met at Kothi Lodge on Ramna Road to split the loot. An initial arrest was made on March 11, followed by another suspect surrendering on April 9. Police are still searching for three more associates.
Patel, a two-time jail inmate, has a history of serious crimes, including a ₹10 crore gold heist in Jalandhar. He was involved with sand mafias in Saran and Ara. Police intercepted Patel in a Scorpio near Bhutnath Road, recovering 800 grams of gold. The vehicle is registered under Priyanka Mishra, whom Patel claims is his wife. Police are investigating further.
