Patna: The Bihar government has started a new internship programme to support young people who are looking for work experience and skill development. The scheme, called the Chief Minister Pratigya (CM-PRATIGYA) Internship Scheme, is being run by the Bihar Skill Development Mission under the Youth, Employment and Skill Development Department. The main goal of the scheme is to help the youth of Bihar understand real workplaces, improve their skills and become more confident for future jobs.
Under this scheme, young people aged between 18 and 28 years who belong to Bihar can apply for internships in various government departments and institutions. These include state engineering colleges, polytechnic institutes, educational institutions, corporations and other government offices. The internships will be for a period of three months to one year. During this time, interns will work in areas such as data entry, office work, finance, human resources, laboratory assistance, library work, Hindi typing and social media handling, giving them hands-on experience.
The scheme also provides financial help so that money does not become a problem for the interns. Based on their education level, from Class 12 to postgraduate, interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000. Those who do internships in a district other than their home district in Bihar will get an extra Rs 2,000 per month for the first three months. Interns working outside Bihar will receive Rs 5,000 per month for the full internship period. The amount will be sent directly to their bank accounts through direct benefit transfer.
Many well-known institutions have already joined the scheme, showing strong support for the programme. These include the Institute of Hotel Management in Hajipur and Gaya, the Art and Design College in Patna, and the Chandragupta Institute of Management, Patna. Along with government institutions, several private companies from across the country have also partnered with the scheme, some of which are offering extra facilities like food, accommodation and transport.
After completing the internship, candidates will receive a joint certificate from the Bihar Skill Development Mission and the concerned department. The state government aims to provide internship opportunities to 1,05,000 young people over the next five years. Officials have encouraged eligible youth to register on the CM Pratigya portal and make use of this opportunity to gain skills and move towards a better future.
