Khagaria: Khagaria has received a significant push to its rail connectivity with the introduction of three new weekly trains, a move expected to ease long-distance travel for thousands of passengers in the region. The announcement, made by the East Central Railway, has been welcomed by residents who have long demanded better links to major cities. The new services will operate under the Amrit Bharat Express and Amrit Bharat Special banners, bringing Khagaria closer to important economic and cultural hubs.
According to the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of East Central Railway, the first of these services is the Amrit Bharat Express running between Siliguri and Panvel. The train, numbered 11031 and 11032, will pass through Hasanpur and Samastipur before reaching Khagaria. It is scheduled to arrive at Khagaria station at 9.00 pm and depart just five minutes later at 9.05 pm. This weekly service will begin operations from 17 January and will run every Saturday, offering a new travel option between eastern India and the Mumbai region.
The second new train will also operate under the Amrit Bharat Express name, connecting Dibrugarh Junction in Assam with Gomti Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. Train numbers 15949 and 15950 will stop at Khagaria at 4.05 pm and depart at 4.10 pm. This service will run once a week and is scheduled to reach Khagaria on Sundays, making it particularly useful for students, workers and families travelling between the northeast and northern India.
The third addition is the Amrit Bharat Special train running between Kamakhya Junction and Rohtak Junction. Trains numbered 15671 and 15672 will halt at Khagaria in the early hours of the morning, arriving at 12.38 am and departing at 12.42 am. Like the other two, this service will also operate weekly. Railway officials said these new trains are part of broader efforts to improve regional connectivity, reduce travel time and ensure that smaller but important stations like Khagaria are better linked to the national rail network.
