Patna: The Bihar government has stepped up its push to expand tourism infrastructure, urging entrepreneurs to develop high-quality facilities in every district, including star-rated hotels, clean roadside amenities, conference halls and amusement parks.
Addressing an online review meeting with 21 entrepreneurs on Thursday, Nilesh Ramchandra Deore, secretary of the state tourism department, said the government was offering financial assistance of up to 30% of total project costs under the Bihar Tourism Policy.
“Entrepreneurs should come forward to create world-class tourism facilities in every district and become job creators,” Deore said, adding that stronger private participation was key to making Bihar a competitive tourism destination.
During the meeting, the secretary held one-to-one discussions with investors from different parts of the state to review the progress of their projects. He asked entrepreneurs who had already received first-stage approval for grants to apply promptly for the second stage, which involves financial sanction.
Deore also acknowledged delays in loan disbursements from banks for some projects and assured participants that the department would take the matter up directly with financial institutions to ease credit flow.
“The objective is to ensure that tourists face no inconvenience anywhere in Bihar,” he said, encouraging entrepreneurs to motivate peers and associates to invest under the policy. He added that better hospitality standards would not only help businesses grow but also enhance Bihar’s image as a welcoming destination.
Representatives from hospitality, adventure tourism and infrastructure projects in Patna, Bodh Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Buxar, Bhojpur, Rohtas and West Champaran took part in the meeting, reflecting the government’s focus on spreading tourism development beyond traditional centres.
Officials said the initiative is part of a broader effort to boost local employment, attract private investment and strengthen district-level tourism ecosystems across the state.
