Patna: Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport has commissioned its fourth and fifth passenger boarding bridges, a move aimed at streamlining passenger movement and enhancing the overall travel experience.
The new facilities became operational on Saturday after receiving approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), airport officials said.
Aerobridge-4 handled its first arrival with an Air India flight from Delhi, which docked at Bay 10 and connected to Boarding Gate 12. The same bridge facilitated the subsequent departure on the Patna–Delhi sector, marking its full operational rollout.
Aerobridge-5 was inaugurated with an arrival by IndiGo from Delhi, parked at Bay 11 and linked to Boarding Gate 12A, followed by a departure on the Patna–Delhi route. Airport authorities said both bridges handled full passenger loads, underscoring readiness for regular operations.
With all passenger boarding bridges now functional, the airport expects smoother boarding and disembarkation, improved crowd management within the terminal, and reduced reliance on bus gates during peak hours.
Officials reiterated that the expansion is part of a broader push to upgrade infrastructure and deliver safer, more seamless and efficient services for travellers passing through Patna’s principal airport.
