Patna: Bihar continues to see fluctuating winter conditions, with sunny days bringing a sense of warmth even as a light chill persists in the mornings and evenings across much of the state.
According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, most districts are expected to remain dry under partly cloudy skies. Westerly winds, forecast to reach speeds of up to 40 km per hour, are adding to the feeling of coolness, particularly during early and late hours. Dense fog is likely to affect parts of northern Bihar, reducing visibility during mornings and evenings.
Forecasters predict a drop of one to three degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures over the next 24 hours. In Patna and surrounding areas, conditions are expected to remain generally pleasant during the day, though the influence of westerly winds will keep evenings noticeably cooler.
A western disturbance is likely to impact the Himalayan region on February 9, a development that could bring increased cloud cover and fog to northern parts of Bihar. The India Meteorological Department has said that mornings and evenings will remain cool for now, but a gradual rise in temperatures is expected after February 12.

Light fog is forecast to persist across the state for the next few days, particularly during early mornings and late evenings. Meteorologists attribute this to lingering moisture in the atmosphere and weakening western disturbances over north India. While wind speeds remain relatively low, February’s longer daylight hours are allowing more solar radiation to warm the ground, pushing up daytime temperatures.
In Patna, light mist or fog may be seen in the mornings, but skies are expected to clear as the day progresses, bringing ample sunshine. Minimum temperatures are likely to range between 10 and 13 degrees Celsius, while maximum temperatures are expected to hover between 24 and 26 degrees.
The meteorological department said the grip of winter is likely to loosen gradually from mid-February, with warmer days becoming more frequent even as cool nights linger a little longer.
