West Champaran: Prashant Kishor has launched the “Bihar Navnirman Yatra” from Bagaha in West Champaran, marking a fresh push to strengthen his political movement, Jan Suraj, across the state. Speaking to supporters on Sunday, he said the aim was to build a “strong, honest and accountable political alternative” in Bihar through sustained engagement with communities.
He said the organisation would be restructured in every district as part of a broader campaign to deepen its grassroots presence. The journey, Prashant Kishor added, would help reconnect with long-time supporters, recruit new members and shape future strategy alongside party colleagues. “We are going district by district to rebuild the organisation and decide our next steps together,” he said.
He also renewed pressure on the state and central leadership to fulfil an election-time promise of providing Rs 2 lakh to women in Bihar. Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, he said Jan Suraj volunteers would go door-to-door to ensure women receive the promised support. Failure to deliver, he warned, would expose the pledge as a political tactic rather than a genuine welfare commitment.
“If the government does not act, we will raise this issue again with the people,” he said, adopting a combative tone that signals Jan Suraj’s intent to position itself as a watchdog on governance promises.
Commenting on reports of friction within the RJD–Congress alliance, Kishor said voters had already defined each party’s role in the political landscape. He argued that the National Democratic Alliance had been mandated to govern, the RJD to sit in opposition, and Jan Suraj to work among society on public issues. “We are honestly fulfilling the responsibility given to us by the people,” he said.
