Patna: The 14th St. Ignatius of Loyola Inter-School Football Tournament concluded on Saturday, after three days of intense competition and spirited play. The event, which began on July 25, saw the participation of 15 schools from across Patna, showcasing remarkable teamwork and sportsmanship.
The final match, held at St. Michael’s High School, was graced by the Chief Guest, Shirsat Kapil Ashok (IAS), Managing Director of Bihar State Road Development Corporation Ltd. The tournament culminated with St. Michael’s Team B clinching the championship title, while Delhi Public School, Patna, emerged as the runners-up in the Senior category for under-18 boys.
Principal Fr. A Christu Savarirajan S.J. addressed the gathering, praising the players for their dedication and emphasizing the importance of fair play in sports. He acknowledged the hard work of all teams, highlighting the role of such tournaments in fostering a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition among students.
The closing ceremony featured an address by Shirsat Kapil Ashok, who lauded the efforts of the teams and congratulated the winners. Special awards were distributed, recognizing individual excellence and team spirit. Notable accolades included Best Goalkeeper, awarded to Aabel S. Joe from St. Michael’s, and Best Scorer, secured by Ishan Kumar from Delhi Public School. The Best Player of the Tournament was Pragyan from St. Michael’s High School, while Abhijeet Kumar, also from SMHS, was recognized as Best Defender.
Trinity Global School, Patna, received the Best Fair Play Team award. Player of the Match awards were given for each match, with Shashwat Dubey from SMHS, Patna, recognized in the first match. Mayuresh Bhatt from DPS, Patna, and Ayush Shah from DPS, Patna, were awarded in the second and third matches, respectively. Other recipients included Harsh Modi from Litera Valley, Patna, Yuvraj Singh from St. Dominic Savio, Patna, Adwitiya Parth from Tribhuvan School, Patna, and Rudra from SMHS, Patna.
Additional awards went to Arihant Singh from Trinity Global, Patna, Harsh Anand from SMHS, Patna, Ishan Kumar from DPS, Patna, Naman Kunal from SMHS, Patna, Aakesh Aryan from Trinity Global, Patna, Md Tamheed Khan from SMHS, Patna, and Md Faizal Ansari from DPS, Patna. The Player of the Match for the Grand Final was Shashwat from SMHS, Patna.
The Vice Principal, Dr. Marie D’Cruz, extended a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the Chief Guest, school management, referees, and coordinators. The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking the end of a successful and memorable tournament.
