Patna: Former poll strategist and Jan Suraj campaign convenor Prashant Kishore announced on Sunday that the Jan Suraj party, to be officially launched on October 2, is gearing up for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections with confidence. Addressing a workers’ meeting at Gyan Bhawan in Patna, Kishore detailed the party’s strategic plans and introduced new prominent members, emphasizing the growing support for Jan Suraj.
Kishore revealed that a seven-member committee will oversee elections for 25 top party positions between August 15 and August 20. The committee will include Dr. Bhupendra Yadav from Samastipur, RN Singh from Begusarai, retired IAS officer Suresh Sharma, advocate Ganesh Ram from Siwan, Dr. Naseem from East Champaran, retired IAS officer Arvind Singh from Bhojpur, and Swarnalata Sahni from Muzaffarpur. “One can contest only if the application includes a list of 5,000 new members,” Kishore added, underlining the party’s emphasis on grassroots support.
Discussing the educational criteria for candidates, Kishore assured that the party would have no difficulty finding several “graduates” to field in the elections if they chose to prioritize degree holders.
The Jan Suraj Abhiyan, continuing to expand its influence, welcomed three notable figures during the organizational meeting, further boosting its momentum. Dr. Jagriti, granddaughter of the late Karpoori Thakur, a Bharat Ratna awardee and former Chief Minister of Bihar, joined the campaign, aligning with the ideals of her illustrious grandfather and strengthening Jan Suraj’s appeal among traditional political families in the region.
Anand Mishra, an independent candidate from Buxar in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, also joined Jan Suraj, expressing admiration for Kishore’s efforts and endorsing the campaign’s direction and goals. The inclusion of Professor Rambali Singh Chandravanshi, who praised Jan Suraj’s vision for transformative change in Bihar, adds intellectual weight to the movement, showcasing its broad-based appeal across different societal sectors.
As Jan Suraj gears up for its official launch and the upcoming assembly elections, the expanding roster of influential members signals a robust challenge to established political parties in Bihar.
