Patna: The Patna district administration has intensified its crackdown on land mafia, registering an FIR against an accused in the Phulwari Sharif circle for allegedly obtaining land mutation using forged documents. The action is part of an ongoing drive ordered by the District Magistrate Thiyagarajan S M to curb land-related fraud and strengthen transparency in revenue administration.
According to officials, a case has been registered at Parsa Bazar police station against Seema Kumari, wife of Dhiraj Kumar, a resident of Tadwa Dehri under Pipra police station in Patna district. She is accused of securing mutation on the basis of a fake sale deed by submitting forged documents purportedly issued by the Patna sub-registrar office.
The accused allegedly obtained approval through a mutation case filed at the Phulwari Sharif circle office under case number 10968/2024–25. The irregularity surfaced during an inquiry conducted by senior officers on the directions of the District Magistrate. After the forged documents came to light, the Land Reforms Deputy Collector, Patna Sadar, and the Additional Collector, Patna, were instructed to take action as per procedure.
Following due process, the mutation approval granted in the case has been cancelled, and the jamabandi created on its basis has also been annulled.
Terming the incident a serious offence, the District Magistrate said tampering with land records will not be tolerated. An FIR, registered as Case No. 110/26, has been lodged against the accused, and further legal proceedings are underway.
In a related development, revenue employee Sonu Kumar has been suspended with immediate effect for his alleged role in the matter. Departmental and disciplinary proceedings have also been initiated against him under the prescribed rules.
The District Magistrate said that in line with state government directives, the district administration is taking continuous action to ensure transparency and accountability in revenue offices. High-end CCTV cameras are being installed in all circle offices to prevent the entry of brokers and middlemen. He warned that if any broker or tout is found inside a circle office during inspections, the concerned circle officer will lodge an FIR for cheating, criminal conspiracy and obstruction of government work.
He further stated that any government employee found involved in such illegal activities will face the strictest possible action.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance policy, the District Magistrate said no negligence or irregularity in revenue work or matters of public interest will be accepted. All sub-divisional officers and sub-divisional police officers have been directed to take strict legal action against land mafia, liquor mafia and sand mafia.
Revenue officials have also been instructed to closely monitor land dispute cases at the grassroots level, assess their seriousness, maintain detailed records, review action taken, prepare history sheets of disputed land and ensure a structured and time-bound resolution of land disputes.
