Patna: Bihar has emerged as a standout performer at the inaugural “Yug Yugin Bharat Museum” conference, held from August 1 to 3, at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Organised by the Ministry of Culture, the three-day event saw participation from representatives of 28 states and 8 Union Territories, each showcasing their regional museums.
In a remarkable achievement, Bihar’s presentation, led by Rahul Kumar, Director of Museums, secured the Best Presentation Award for the East Zone. This accolade highlights Bihar’s exceptional contribution among other eastern states, including Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.
The conference, which marked the first of its kind by the Ministry, was inaugurated by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Culture and Tourism. The opening ceremony was also attended by senior figures such as Govind Mohan, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, and Mugdha Sinha, Joint Secretary. The event drew an audience of 150 participants, including notable guests like Tim Curtis, Director of UNESCO South Asia, and D. Damodaran, Senior Professor at IIM Bangalore.
Bihar’s delegation, which included Arvind Mahajan, Curator of the Gaya Museum, and Curatorial Associate Ravishankar Gupta, showcased the state’s rich museum heritage, making a significant impact at the conference.
