Patna: All India Institute of Medical Sciences Patna has been recognised for excellence in service delivery at the ‘Ayushman Manthan’ conclave held in Patna, underscoring its growing reputation as a leading public healthcare provider in Bihar. The event, organised by the Asian Development Research Institute in collaboration with the Bihar Health Security Committee, brought together policymakers, healthcare professionals and experts to assess the impact of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Held at Urja Auditorium on March 17, the conclave focused on how coordinated efforts between policy frameworks and healthcare institutions can deliver more compassionate, accessible and transparent services. AIIMS Patna’s top ranking was presented as a reflection not only of operational efficiency but also of patient trust, timely treatment and reduced financial burden for beneficiaries.
Addressing the gathering, Mangal Pandey highlighted the grassroots success of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in the state. He noted that more than 41.6 million health cards have been issued in Bihar, enabling millions to access cashless treatment. He described AIIMS Patna as a “symbol of trust”, where advanced care is delivered with empathy and accountability.
Receiving the award, Dr Anup Kumar dedicated the recognition to patients and frontline healthcare workers, emphasising their resilience and faith in the system. Meanwhile, Shashank Shekhar Sinha, chief executive officer of the Bihar Health Security Committee, said strong coordination between hospitals and the state agency has ensured seamless and hassle-free services for patients.
Data shared at the event showed that in 2025 alone, over 21,000 patients at AIIMS Patna benefited from the scheme, accounting for around 36% of its total patient load. The conclave concluded with a shared commitment among stakeholders to make healthcare more humane and inclusive, reinforcing the idea that patient-centric systems can transform public health into a source of dignity and hope.
