Jamui: Prashant Kishore, the convenor of the Jan Suraj campaign, received a rousing reception as he arrived in Jamui on Monday for a two-day visit. Thousands of people, including women from various blocks of the district, greeted him with traditional drumbeats as he commenced his tour. Kishore began his program by addressing a large gathering, outlining the goals of the Jan Suraj campaign in Bihar.

During a press conference at the Circuit House of Jamui Municipal Council, followed by a public meeting in Nagar Panchayat Sikandra, Kishore made bold predictions about the future of Bihar’s political landscape. He declared that the 2025 assembly elections would see the people of Bihar rejecting the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Janata Dal (United) (JDU), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), signaling an end to the dominance of these major parties.

Kishore was particularly critical of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his party, the JD (U), predicting that they would struggle to secure even 20 seats in the upcoming elections. He asserted that regardless of whether Nitish aligns with the BJP or RJD, the public’s dissatisfaction would result in a significant defeat for the JD (U).

Reflecting on the 2015 elections, Kishore noted that it was his support that helped form the Mahagathbandhan government, but he warned that the political tides have shifted dramatically since then. According to him, the 2025 election results will see a complete reversal of fortunes for both the RJD and JD (U).

Kishore also took aim at the RJD, highlighting recent internal strife within the party. He referenced a letter reportedly issued by the RJD, urging party members to stay united and respect the views of party patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav. Kishore suggested that the party’s reliance on such measures indicates diminishing loyalty among its ranks, particularly towards Tejashwi Yadav, Lalu’s son and the party’s current leader.

Looking ahead, Kishore claimed that the 2025 assembly elections would be a direct contest between his Jan Suraj movement and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), with the RJD no longer being a significant player in Bihar’s political arena. His statements have set the stage for what promises to be a contentious and closely watched electoral battle in the state.

  • 🚨 A Class 11 student in Patna was allegedly abducted and assaulted by fellow students outside St. Michael’s High School on Thursday. Police say the student was reportedly forced into an SUV, taken to a Ganga riverbank, assaulted, and later released near the school. Preliminary investigations suggest the incident stemmed from an earlier dispute between students rather than a ransom kidnapping. An FIR has been registered against three accused, the vehicle has been seized, and police are examining CCTV footage as the investigation continues.

  • 🚧 Bihar has approved a new toll policy for state highways that links toll charges to road width. Roads narrower than 5.5 metres and stretches passing through municipal areas will remain toll-free, while wider four-lane and six-lane highways, including the JP Ganga Path and the Kacchi Dargah–Bidupur bridge, will attract higher user charges. The government says the revised system aims to create a sustainable funding model for road maintenance while reducing the burden on commuters using smaller and urban roads.

  • 🚨 The Income Tax Department is probing an alleged ₹6,000-crore tax evasion scheme linked to donations made to certain unrecognised political parties. Investigators suspect that some donors claimed tax deductions under Section 80GGC after making bank transfers, while a large portion of the donated amount was allegedly returned through unofficial channels. The probe is ongoing, and no findings of wrongdoing have been established by any court. Officials say any legal action will depend on the evidence gathered during the investigation.

  • 🩺 Former intern doctors at GMCH Purnea staged a protest after alleging that their stipends for the last four months remain unpaid even after completing their internship on June 25. They also opposed being asked to vacate the hostel before receiving their dues, saying it has created financial hardship. The college administration said the delay was due to technical reasons and assured that the pending stipend is likely to be credited within the next one or two days, while maintaining that hostel rooms must be vacated as per institutional rules to accommodate the incoming batch of interns.
