Arwal (Bihar): A man from Bihar’s Arwal district has been arrested by a team of the Delhi Police for allegedly posting an objectionable AI-generated image of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Facebook, officials said.
The arrest was carried out in Maulanachak village under Kurtha police station limits during a joint operation by the Delhi Police and local police. Kurtha Station House Officer Sameer Kumar said the accused, identified as Siddhnath Kumar, son of Nand Kumar Yadav, was taken into custody and later taken to Delhi for further investigation.
Police said a case in connection with the matter had been registered at the Special Cell office located in Lodhi Colony, New Delhi. According to investigators, the accused allegedly created and circulated objectionable images of the Prime Minister using artificial intelligence tools and posted them on Facebook through multiple social media accounts.
Authorities claim the accused uploaded the edited images with the intention of misleading the public and disturbing public order. Police also alleged that the posts involved morphed images related to a BJP woman legislator and a foreign woman leader.
Officials further said the accused was also allegedly involved in facilitating access to banned online games.
A case has been registered against him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 336(4), 356 and 351(1).
The operation was carried out by a team from the Special Cell of Delhi Police led by Sub-Inspector Hemant and Head Constable Anil Kumar, with assistance from Kurtha police. After the arrest, the accused was taken to Delhi for further legal proceedings, officials said.
