Samastipur: The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced the Class 12 results, with Aditya Prakash Aman from Samastipur securing the top position in the Science stream.
Aditya scored 481 marks, achieving 96.20%, emerging as the state topper. Sakshi Kumari from Sitamarhi and Sapna Kumari from Nawada secured the second position jointly with 479 marks (95.80%).
A student of Higher Secondary School, Pand in Dalsinghsarai, Aditya said his success was the result of consistent self-study and discipline. He had earlier completed his Class 10 education from Simultala Residential School.
Aditya said he studied for eight to ten hours daily and focused not only on concepts but also on improving his writing skills, which he believes played a key role in his performance. He added that he had been confident of securing a place among the top rankers after completing his exams.
Coming from an academic background, his father, Harendra Kumar Mahato, is a government school teacher, while his mother, Rinku Kumari, is a homemaker. His younger sister is also a student at Simultala Residential School.
Aditya said he had faced disappointment earlier when he failed to secure a top position in his Class 10 exams despite expectations. However, he remained focused on his goal of becoming a doctor and continued to work hard.
“Hard work never goes to waste. Even if success comes late, it comes for sure,” he said.
Teachers at his school described his achievement as a moment of pride. Santosh Kumar Jha, one of his teachers, said the result brought recognition to the institution and inspired other students.
Overall, the Bihar Board recorded a pass percentage of 85.19% in the Intermediate examination this year. Notably, 19 out of the 26 toppers across all streams were girls, highlighting strong academic performance by female students.
In the Science stream, Anamika Kumari secured third place with 478 marks, followed by Satyam Kumar with 476 and Palak Kumari with 475.
Education minister Sunil Kumar said all toppers would be rewarded for their achievements.
