Rajgir: Nalanda University is making extensive preparations for its second convocation, scheduled for March 31, with the President of India set to attend as chief guest, the institution said on Friday.
A key feature of the ceremony at the Rajgir campus in Bihar will be the Sahabhāgitā Exhibition, curated under the university’s Sahabhāgitā Saṃvāda initiative. The exhibition is intended to reflect the university’s emphasis on dialogue, inclusivity and community engagement, and will include a series of thematic stalls.
According to the university, the exhibition will highlight its ongoing engagement with surrounding villages through the participation of local women, farmers, schoolteachers, students and other community members. The initiative focuses on inclusive development through skill-building programmes, strengthening self-help groups, and research linked to the localisation of Sustainable Development Goals.
The displays will include handcrafted products, documentation of livelihood changes, and academic work produced by faculty and students. Selected community representatives will also have the opportunity to interact with the President during the event.
Students will additionally present projects on the cultural mapping of nearby villages, aimed at documenting the region’s heritage and situating Nalanda’s civilisational legacy within a broader global cultural context. They will also showcase the traditional Ahar-Pyne irrigation system, which has informed the university’s own water conservation practices on its net-zero campus.
The university has carried out civil and landscaping work across the campus ahead of the convocation. Security arrangements are also being strengthened in coordination with the district administration, with officials holding regular review meetings to ensure the event proceeds smoothly.
