Patna: Three people were seriously injured after a group of armed assailants allegedly opened fire and carried out a violent attack on a house in Patna’s Maner area late on Friday night, police said.
The incident took place in Vyapur East Lane, under the jurisdiction of Maner police station, at the residence of Rajendra Prasad, who is related by marriage to Bihar agriculture minister Ram Kripal Yadav.
According to police and family members, the attackers fired multiple rounds before assaulting residents with swords, sticks and stones. Officials said around 15 rounds were allegedly fired during the incident.
The injured have been identified as Rajesh Kumar, also known as Pappu, son of Rajendra Prasad, and Manish (alias Guddu) and Nitish (alias Bablu), sons of the late Bhupendra Singh. Manish and Nitish are undergoing treatment at AIIMS Patna, while Rajesh Kumar has been admitted to a private hospital in Danapur.
Family members have accused four individuals — identified as Mukesh, Deepak, son of the late Satendra, and Prince — of carrying out the attack. A video of the incident has also surfaced, purportedly capturing the sound of gunfire.
Police said they reached the spot soon after receiving information and recovered spent cartridges from the scene. A case has been registered and raids are being conducted to apprehend the accused.
Security has been tightened in the area following the attack, with additional police personnel deployed amid concerns over law and order. Officials said investigations are ongoing.
