Reliance Jio Officials Trained in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management by BSDMA

Patna: The Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA) organized a one-day sensitization cum training program for Reliance Jio officials in Patna. The session aimed to enhance the preparedness and skillset of participants in handling disaster situations such as earthquakes, floods, lightning, and drowning, with a specific focus on Bihar’s vulnerabilities to disasters. The training also included practical mock drills to better equip the participants for real-life scenarios.
Officials from Reliance Jio, including the State HR Head and State SLP Heads, welcomed the resource persons from BSDMA, NDRF, and SDRF. Dr. Jeevan Kumar set the tone for the day with a discussion on disaster management strategies. The program also featured a presentation of a BSDMA film highlighting various initiatives and activities undertaken by the Authority.
Key speakers at the event included Binay Kumar, who addressed emergency planning, risk management, and the structure of disaster management at multiple levels, along with safety protocols during floods and power outages. Dr. Anand Bijeta provided insights into Bihar’s disaster profile and DRR roadmap, with a particular emphasis on earthquake and flood management. Sumbul Afroz explained the significance of the Bihar State Disaster Resource Network and its practical applications.
Presentations also covered topics such as climate change impacts specific to Bihar, human-induced disasters like road accidents, and safety measures for drowning and boating. A demonstration on chemical disaster management was conducted by the NDRF team, while the SDRF team engaged participants in an interactive mock drill on earthquake and flood safety. The training concluded with a quiz on disaster risk reduction and management, followed by feedback from the participants.
