Patna: Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour (BAU) has achieved a significant milestone by receiving an ‘A’ grade in the accreditation process conducted by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), reflecting significant progress in the university’s academic and institutional performance.
ICAR conducts a comprehensive evaluation of all state agricultural universities in the country every five years, assessing the quality of academic programs, research achievements, infrastructure, and overall institutional functioning. As part of this review, the ICAR Peer Review Team visited BAU Sabour between February 16 and 19 to evaluate various parameters related to academic excellence, administrative systems, and innovation.
This achievement is particularly noteworthy because the university received a ‘C’ grade in the previous accreditation cycle. This promotion to ‘A’ grade is the result of the university’s continued efforts to strengthen its academic structure, enhance research quality, upgrade infrastructure, and promote innovation-based agricultural education. This recognition establishes BAU Sabour among the leading agricultural teaching and research institutions in the country. The university administration attributes this success to the collective dedication and continuous efforts of its faculty, scientists, staff, and students.
Expressing satisfaction over this achievement, the Vice Chancellor of BAU Sabour said, “This ‘A’ grade received from ICAR is a proud moment for the entire university family. It reflects our commitment to academic excellence, quality research, and effective extension services. This progress from ‘C’ to ‘A’ grade is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our faculty, scientists, staff, and students. We are committed to further strengthening our academic and research systems to serve the agricultural community and contribute to national agricultural development.”
This recognition by ICAR is expected to provide the university with new opportunities for academic collaboration, research funding, and institutional development. It will also play a key role in promoting agricultural innovation and capacity building in the region, further strengthening BAU Sabour’s role in sustainable agricultural development.
It is worth noting that just a few months ago, the university also received an ‘A’ grade from NAAC. Consistently receiving A grades from prestigious institutions is a hallmark of the university’s academic excellence.
