Patna: Samrat Choudhary moved quickly to assert control over the administration in Bihar, convening a high-level review meeting with senior officials within minutes of being sworn in as the state’s 24th chief minister.
Soon after the swearing-in ceremony in Patna, Choudhary proceeded to the Secretariat, where he formally assumed charge and signalled an action-oriented approach to governance.
Immediate push on governance
In his first meeting, attended by principal secretaries and senior IAS officers, including Deepak Kumar and Pratyaya Amrit, the chief minister reviewed the status of ongoing development schemes and outlined priorities for the administration.
Officials said the focus was on accelerating governance, clearing pending projects and improving delivery of public services.
Deadlines, accountability and key sectors
Choudhary issued clear instructions that delays in implementation would not be tolerated and directed departments to meet targets within fixed timelines.
He emphasised priority attention to sectors including:
- Roads and infrastructure
- Healthcare
- Education
- Law and order
He also sought detailed reports on ongoing schemes and warned that accountability would be fixed in cases of delay.
Focus on public service delivery
The chief minister stressed the need for efficient grievance redressal, directing officials to ensure that citizens are not forced to make repeated visits to government offices.
He also called for greater transparency and the adoption of digital governance tools to streamline services and improve accessibility.
Plans for new initiatives
Alongside reviewing existing projects, Choudhary asked officials to expedite proposals for new development schemes, indicating an intent to maintain momentum in the state’s growth agenda.
Observers said the effectiveness of these early directives will depend on their implementation at the grassroots level, as the administration transitions under new leadership.
