Patna: Violence broke out at Paras Hospital, Patna on Monday after the death of a teenager undergoing treatment, with relatives vandalising the premises and clashing with police.
The incident led to chaos inside the hospital for nearly an hour, with a large crowd gathering outside and traffic disruptions reported in the area.
Death During Treatment
Police said the deceased, identified as Vishal, was a resident of Phulwari Sharif and had been admitted with serious head injuries.
According to preliminary information, he was injured during an altercation while playing cricket on Sunday, allegedly after being struck with a bat.
He succumbed to his injuries on Monday while undergoing treatment.
Family Alleges Negligence
Following his death, family members accused hospital authorities of medical negligence and refused to remove the body, staging a protest inside the facility.
The situation escalated as protesters damaged property, including flower pots and other items within the hospital.
Police Clash And Chaos
Police personnel who arrived at the scene were reportedly attacked by members of the crowd, further intensifying the situation.
Authorities said efforts were made to bring the situation under control, while additional forces were deployed to manage the unrest.
Additional Allegations
Family members also alleged that the hospital had removed the teenager’s organs, citing an incision on the body. However, no formal complaint had been filed in this regard at the time of reporting.
Police said the incident is under investigation, and further details are being collected.
The episode has raised concerns over law and order as well as tensions between patients’ families and healthcare providers in emergency situations.
