Patna: A senior police officer in Patna has been arrested by the Vigilance Investigation Bureau on allegations of accepting a bribe of Rs 7,000 in a corruption case linked to case manipulation and intimidation of a complainant.
Arjun Yadav, additional station house officer at Kadamkuan police station, was caught red-handed on Thursday while allegedly taking money from a resident who had accused him of threatening to implicate him in a criminal case.

According to vigilance officials, the complaint was lodged by Shamshad Alam, a resident of the Kadamkuan area, who alleged that Yadav had demanded Rs 7,000 in exchange for not naming him in Case No. 315-26 and for not escalating legal action against him. Alam approached the vigilance police station after what he described as repeated pressure and threats from the officer.
Following a preliminary verification of the complaint, the Vigilance Investigation Bureau constituted a trap team led by DSP Aditya Raj. Acting on the plan, officers set up a surveillance operation near Buddha Park on Justice Raj Kishore Path in Patna, where the transaction was expected to take place.
Officials said Yadav accepted the marked currency from the complainant at the designated spot, after which he was immediately apprehended by the team. The bribe money was recovered from his possession on the spot.
He was taken to the vigilance headquarters for interrogation following his arrest. Officials said further investigation is underway to examine allegations related to abuse of authority and manipulation of case records, and that appropriate legal action will follow based on the findings.
