Patna: Former Bihar Chief Minister and senior politician Nitish Kumar is expected to shift into his newly prepared residence at 7 Circular Road in Patna as early as Friday, according to sources. The bungalow is currently being readied with extensive floral decorations and final finishing work ahead of the anticipated move.
The development comes as the long-serving political figure prepares to vacate 1 Aney Marg, the official residence that has functioned as the state’s chief ministerial address for nearly two decades.
Officials and people familiar with the preparations said the 7 Circular Road residence has seen multiple rounds of inspection by Kumar in recent weeks. On Friday morning, materials including potted plants, folding furniture, clothing stands and other household items were transported to the site using tractors. Similar shifting activity had also taken place earlier.
The bungalow, reportedly constructed under Kumar’s personal supervision during a previous phase when he was not in office, has been prepared for his return following his current role as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha.
Located in a high-security zone of Patna, the residence is surrounded by reinforced boundary walls and monitored by CCTV cameras. Security personnel have been deployed at entry points, and the area is expected to remain under tight surveillance given Kumar’s political profile. The property also includes separate access points for visitors and guests.
The complex is noted for its spacious layout, with lawns at the front and rear, landscaped gardens and a central water feature used for Chhath Puja rituals. Officials describe the setting as both functional and high-security, while also reflecting Kumar’s long-stated preference for simplicity and greenery.
No official confirmation has been issued regarding the exact timing of the shift, but preparations suggest the transition could take place within the day.
