Patna: On the first anniversary of what the government has described as “Operation Sindoor”, a 2025 military operation carried out by the Indian armed forces, Prime Minister Narendra Modi updated his profile picture on the social media platform X to mark the occasion.
The new display image features the official emblem of Operation Sindoor alongside the Indian tricolour. The gesture was widely interpreted as a symbolic commemoration of the operation’s anniversary.
Following the prime minister’s update, several political leaders in Bihar also changed their profile pictures in solidarity. Among them were Bihar chief minister Samrat Choudhary, union ministers Giriraj Singh and Nityanand Rai, as well as state leader Vijay Kumar Sinha and Ravi Prasad.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, 2025, was presented by officials as a retaliatory military response following a militant attack in Pahalgam in April 2025. According to government accounts, the operation involved coordinated precision strikes by the armed forces against what were described as militant infrastructure, including headquarters and launch sites across the border.
The anniversary markings on social media come amid continued political emphasis on the operation’s strategic and symbolic significance, particularly within the ruling party’s public messaging.
