Patna: Patna police conducted a large-scale vehicle checking drive early on Monday morning across the city. The sudden operation saw barricades set up at 20 different locations, where every passing vehicle was stopped and checked. The aim of the drive was to keep a check on criminal activities and improve security on the roads.
Police teams were deployed from the early hours of the day. At each checkpoint, one police officer and four constables were present to carefully inspect vehicles and verify documents. Officials said the early timing was chosen to catch any suspicious movement and prevent criminals from escaping unnoticed.
During the inspection, several drivers were found without proper documents. The police issued fines to such motorists as per rules. Some vehicles that appeared suspicious were also taken to nearby police stations for further checking. The people inside these vehicles are being questioned as part of routine verification.
According to police officials, the main focus of the operation was to control chain snatching and other street crimes that have been reported in the city. They said such crimes often involve quick movement of offenders, which is why strict checking at multiple points is necessary.
Authorities added that similar drives will continue in the future. The police plan to maintain regular surprise checks to ensure better law and order in Patna and to make public places safer for residents.
