Patna: Pranav Kumar on Monday assumed charge as the new secretary of Bihar’s Building Construction Department at Visvesvaraya Bhawan in Patna, and immediately reviewed the status of key infrastructure projects across the state.
Kumar Ravi, the outgoing secretary, was present at the handover ceremony along with senior officials and engineers of the department.
Shortly after taking charge, Kumar held a detailed review meeting with departmental officials, where presentations were made on ongoing schemes, implementation progress, maintenance work and the department’s operational framework.
Officials briefed him on the status of several major government buildings under construction, as well as upcoming projects. The review also highlighted recent landmark structures developed by the department, including Bapu Tower, the Rajgir Sports Complex, the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum and Smriti Stupa, and the Patna Collectorate.
A separate discussion was held on maintenance systems, technical upkeep and sanitation arrangements for important government buildings across the state.
Kumar said the department’s role extended beyond new construction to the upkeep and aesthetic maintenance of existing public infrastructure. He directed engineers to develop a stronger system to ensure construction quality as well as long-term preservation of assets, and stressed timely completion of all ongoing projects as a top priority.
Senior officials present at the meeting included the additional secretary, joint secretary, engineer-in-chief, chief engineers, and other engineers posted at the department’s headquarters.
